The Valley Animal Hospital veterinary staff is a team of highly-qualified pet care professionals. We make it out number one goal to provide complete veterinary care through excellent pet services and compassionate client services.
Dr. Grguric at a very young age decided he would like to become a vet and made that a reality when he graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He also completed his Master’s Degree in Physiology at The University of Akron where he focused his studies on the breathing techniques of snakes and his research is now published.
In 2006 with his wife and children, he moved to Arizona where he was given an opportunity to work as a director of an Emergency Hospital. While he was there he was nominated and won “Doctor of the Year”, two years in a row.
In 2009 he won the prestigious AAHA-Leadership Award for his commitment to leadership in the veterinary profession and his community.
Dr. Grguric and his wife collectively decided to move back to Ohio in 2010 and purchased Valley Animal Hospital and Hart’s Animal Hospital. He also is the owner of Animal Emergency Hospital in Burton, Michigan where he is able to be involved in ER medicine which he has much interest in.
His hobbies include cheering on Ohio sports teams and spending time with wife and three children.
Dr. Manz has worked at Valley Animal Hospital since 1995. She grew up near Philadelphia, PA and obtained a BS from the Pennsylvania State University in 1979. Dr. Manz also earned a PhD from the University of Washington in 1990. She is a 1992 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania school of Veterinary Medicine where she also completed an internship in Medicine and Surgery in 1993.
Dr. Manz has two dogs, Genevieve (Genny) a black lab, and Bingo a dachshund as well as a leopard gecko named Yoda. She enjoys Pilates, hiking, gardening and hummingbirds. She is also busy volunteering for Akron Children’s hospital and for various activities at her children’s schools.
Dr Meves has been at Valley Animal Hospital since June of 2002. He has been practicing veterinary medicine in Northeastern Ohio for over 25 years.
Dr Meves graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He also completed his Master’s Degree program in Food Science and Nutrition at O.S.U.
His other interests include woodworking, mechanics, hiking, biking and gardening.
Dr. Springer grew up in the Akron area and spent many hours volunteering her time at Valley Animal Hospital. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Dr. Springer has two long hair miniature dachshunds, Rebecca and Lily, and Ash a Siamese mix. In her down time Dr. Springer enjoys running, hiking, and camping.
Dr. Slawienski is a native of Buffalo, New York. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cornell University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 1992. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and trained as a resident in veterinary surgeon at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999. Dr. Mike practiced at Associated Veterinary Specialists in St. Louis before moving to Ohio with his family in 2004. He has provided soft tissue, neurologic and orthopedic specialty surgeries for patients of veterinary hospitals in Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas since that time. Dr. Mike is an avid homebrewer and as a BJCP certified judge has judged beer competitions nationally and abroad. Dr. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and his three wonderful and busy young children. Dr. Slawienski has a sweet one-eyed pug named Boty and a very mischievous cat named Shadow.
Dr. Owen is a native of the Akron, Ohio area and attended Akron Firestone High School (class of 1987). After high school he joined the United States Army and served during Desert Storm winning a National Defense Service Ribbon and an honorable discharge. He attended Mount Union College from 1990 – 1994, receiving academic All American honors on Mount Union’s first Division 3 national football championship team. Dr. Owen graduated from Ohio State’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. After beginning practice at Viking Community Animal Hospital in North Canton with his father, Dr. Terry Owen, he practiced 3 years at Animal Charity of Ohio in Youngstown. In 2007 he began Howland Community Animal Hospital and has been there since. It is a hospital with a heavy concentration on orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, especially knee surgery and surgery of the upper airway of the canine and feline.
Dr. Alex Mullen grew up in northeast Ohio and attended Hiram College. He is a 2007 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the OVMA and the AVMA. His clinical interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. He also enjoys golfing and playing volleyball.
Dr. Wendi grew up in northeast Ohio and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College. She is a 1993 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Wendi has been practicing veterinary medicine in the northeast Ohio area for 23 years. She enjoys reading, jogging, biking, working in the yard, and spending time with her four boys
Marsha has been an employee of Valley Animal Hospital for 15years. After completing her Bachelor of Science in biology, specializing in Zoology, at the University of Akron, she worked several years as an animal keeper at the Akron Zoological Park. She then completed her associate’s degree in veterinary technology at Columbus State Community College. Marsha has over 25 years of experience in the animal field.
Marsha has a pug named Baby Stella and a lilac point Siamese named Jasmine. She is a foster parent for Summit County Children’s Services and enjoys mothering newborns and toddlers. She has a passion for gardening and hiking, but her guilty pleasure is feeding the white tail deer and wild turkeys.
Marsha and her partner have adopted one daughter, whom they have enjoyed raising since birth. She is now a busy toddler in love with life.
Meaghan has worked for Valley Animal Hospital for 10 years and has been in the industry for 18yrs. Meaghan started her career as a groomer and worked for 8yrs making dogs look beautiful. She then decided that she would like to further her experience and education and attended the Stautzenberger College and became a Registered Veterinary Technician. Her areas of interest are educating clients, dental health and surgical assisting.
Meaghan is from Akron, Ohio and has two cats and two dachshunds that are named Pebbles and Chloe. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, reading and gardening.
